Why Refuge 142?
Displaced People worldwide, also known as refugees, are a growing segment of the world's population. The UNHCR says that as of mid-2024, the number of refugees stands at 122.6 million people worldwide (https://data.unhcr.org/en/documents/details/111704) and is rising. War, famine, and political and religious persecution are an increasing reality that causes people to flee their birth countries and homes. The needs of the refugees and those who are displaced are great. In addition to the necessities of life, i.e., shelter, food, safety, and basic living materials, their greatest need is the message of hope and a possible future.
Our name is taken from the Psalm that speaks to David's despair when he was driven from his home, family, and friends. Residing within a cave and being hunted by those who hated him, he found refuge only in the LORD God. We recognize that there can be no hope, peace, or refuge apart from the LORD, and that is why we exist: to bring those who are like David hope, peace, and refuge.
Relying on governments' and charitable organizations' finances alone will not solve the issues and problems that refugees face. We do our part to assist as we can. Still, our purpose is to step in at the beginning, offering immediate aid and safety when possible, and then to help refugees settle into a stable pattern of life that will help them adapt to their new surroundings and transition when needed.
Our History
We have served on the ground in the Middle East and North Africa for over twenty-five years. Our work with refugees is not merely charity but a ministry to guide them in following the new path God has given them.

Refuge 142 focuses on making a difference in the lives of refugees by providing immediate and long-term solutions that focus on the internal and external necessities for them to survive, overcome, and thrive wherever God takes them.
